How to Replace an audi car key holder key replacement audi car key cost (Recommended Web site) G28 Engine Speed Sensor
In this video Charles the Humble Mechanic demonstrates how to replace the G28 engine speed sensor. The sensor is situated near the edges of the transmission above the flywheel ring gear. It transmits a signal to the ECU via the grey wire (T55/49) and then to the tachometer within the instrument cluster.
1. Engine Speed Sensor
The grey wire is situated on the outside of the transmission, just above the flywheel ring. The sensor sends a signal via the grey wire to pin T55/49. The ECU utilizes this information to regulate boost and fuel. It also sends a signal to the G5 tachometer in the instrument cluster.
The sensor serves as a reference for comparing with the G40 Camshaft Position Sensor. The ecu must be aware when the crankshaft is TDC and where the camshaft is so it can start spark and injectors accordingly.
If this sensor fails the ECU will throw an error code P00160 which indicates that the Crank Shaft and Intake Camshaft are not in sync, possibly indicating the chain stretching or a jump link on the upper timing chain. However, the error code won't be displayed on its own without additional information from other sensors (G4 and G40).
It is a little tricky to test because there are various connector pins, and each has its own functions. The best way to do it is by measuring the resistance between the ECU and the sensor. It should read about 1000 ohms when the sensor is at full operation. Look for signs of coolant, or oil in the connector bay if there are issues with this part.
2. Injectors
Yesterday accelerating full speed from highway paytoll i had an abrupt drop in power like the engine is running out of gas or the injectors aren't firing any more. I took out the spark plugs this morning and found that 3 were soaked with gasoline and the fourth was unclean. I placed a tissue over each injector hole and when I start the engine without sparks, the three that have gazoline pop right out. The 4th one stays closed. I tested the ground connection on ECU pins 14/55/30/55/48/55/14/55/48/ i get 0ohm. So i assume the problem is in another place.
I also tried to reset PID but without success. The car will start if the G28 is unplugged and it runs perfectly when it is connected but it still is experiencing intermittent misfires at higher RPM. The temperature sensor for the coolant (G62) shows the wrong temperature value of that is -49c even after unplugging it. Also i noticed that the oil pressure gauge in the cockpit shows 2 bar while the actual pressure is 0.0 when i rev the engine.
I don't know what to do. I feel like i've pretty much ruled everything else out. But i'm worried that I might have missed something. Please let me know If you have any suggestions! TIA!
3. Fuel Pump
The fuel pump on the g28 is activated by a signal sent by the RPM sensor. The GM-style transmitter is identical to the G4 sender and works on the 80,100,200, UrS, and RS2 vehicles. You can easily find an extra in a wrecking shop or parts store. Test them out by putting your DMM in resistance mode and measure the resistance between pins 1 (with the bump on the connector's end up) and 2 (2nd from left on the black end of the connector). They should be infinite Ohms.
4. ECU
Our 20vt turbo (3B AAN, ABY, and ADU) engines are equipped with an ECU that needs to know the speed and position of the crankshaft to make decisions about fuel injector timing etc. It utilizes a Crank Position Sensor G4 and an Engine Speed Sensor G28 to achieve this. If you are experiencing issues with either of these, the diagnostic scanner will display the codes that could trigger an engine shutdown.
Some of the symptoms of a failed G28 sensor are an inaccurate rev counter for the gearbox the gears are shifting faster than normal and/or a misfire when in gear. It is likely that your sensor is failing and needs to be replaced if you experience any of these symptoms. They are cheap and easy-to-find, especially in the case of a Bosch unit like ours. You can also choose the GM version of this component is also a good choice.
5. Tachometer
A damaged engine sensor could cause a variety of issues in your vehicle. It's a vital component of your replacement audi key cost uk's transmission, as it sends information to the ECU about how fast or slow the car's crankshaft is rotating. When this sensor fails, it can cause problems for the transmission, as well as the other car's components.
The G5 engine speed sensor is located at the edge of the transmission above the flywheel ring gear and transmits a signal to the ECU at pin T55/49, via a grey wire. The ECU utilizes this signal to regulate the amount of fuel and boost, as well as timig. It also relays it to the G5 Tachometer in instrument cluster. You can test for sensor failure by examining the continuity of the sensor to the tachometer. Additionally, you can examine the continuity between pins T55/49 of the ECU and pin T6a/1 of the instrument cluster (trace [79]), and between pin T6a/1 as well as pin T26a/12. There should be the resistance to be around 1000 ohms between these points. This is a typical part across the audi tt replacement key 80, 100, 200, UrS and RS2 range from 1985 MC to the 1997 UrS AAN and 1995 RS2 ADU, so the best parts could be found in wrecking yards.
