1. Engine Speed Sensor

Located on the edge of the transmission above the flywheel ring gear the G28 Engine Speed Sensor sends an electrical signal to ECU pin T55/49 via an uncolored wire. The ECU then utilizes this information to regulate the boost, fuel, and timig. It also sends signals to the G5 tachometer in the instrument cluster.

The sensor serves as a reference for comparing with the G40 Camshaft Position Sensor. The ecu must be aware when the crankshaft is TDC and where the camshaft is located so that it can activate spark and injectors according to the situation.

If this sensor fails the ECU will display the P00160 error, which means the Crank Shaft and Intake Camshaft are out of sync, possibly indicating chain stretch or a jumped link on the upper timing chain. The code won't appear without the additional information supplied by other sensors (G4 or G40).

It is a little tricky to test since there are various pins on the connector and each one has different functions. The best way to do it is by measuring the resistance between the ECU and the sensor. It should read about 1000 ohms if the sensor audi car keys replacement is operating at its maximum. 2. Injectors

Yesterday, when i was accelerating to the fullest speed from highway paytoll, I experienced massive power loss as if the engine was running out of gas or the injectors aren't firing any more. When I start the engine without sparks i put tissue on the top of each of the injector holes and the 3 drenched with gazoline pop out, but the 4th stays shut. I tried to test the ground connections of ECU pins 14,30 and 48/55. I found 0ohm. I assume that the problem is elsewhere.

I also tried to reset PID but without success. The car is able to start when the G28 is unplugged and it runs perfectly when it is plugged in, but still is experiencing intermittent misfires at higher RPM. The temperature sensor for the coolant (G62) shows the wrong temperature of -49c, even if I unplug it. Also i noticed that the oil pressure gauge in the cockpit is showing 2 bar, whereas the actual pressure is 0.0 if i crank up the engine.

I'm not certain what to do, as i feel i have pretty much completely ruled out all other possibilities. But i'm worried that I might have missed something. Please let me know if you have any ideas! TIA!

3. Fuel Pump

The fuel pump on the g28 is activated by a signal sent from the RPM sensor. The GM-style transmitter is similar to the G4 sender and works on the 80,100,200, UrS, and RS2 vehicles.
